How do faith & work relate?
After a few years working, Sunny said about his life:
"I started to question my purpose in life, especially my purpose at work. I spend so much time and energy at work, and none of it seemed to relate to me being a Christian at all..."
and
"On a typical day, I spend 1hr getting to work, 10hrs at work, another hr coming home. So out of 24hrs, half of it is because of work. So for it to not be for God was frustrating and felt hypocritical... And because I couldn’t figure out how to serve just God, I gave up and started to do what everyone else around me was doing: drinking, chasing money, trying to climb the corporate ladder."
Sunny's experience is not unusual. We find those who've entered the workforce often have a similar experience.
After meeting some people involved with WorkLife, Sunny took part in our Leadership Development Process. LDP focuses on leading self and influencing others. Sunny goes on to say:
"Through WorkLife, I realised I had a lot of false beliefs that conflict with Biblical truths. My identity, how to approach sin, how to keep walk in the Spirit... That led to an intimate relationship with Christ. My purpose is to participate in the redemptive work God's already doing. Whether that's way I minister to those I interact with at work, or the work itself."
